Wat is a social security fund?
The Social Insurance Funds are private service providers set up as non-profit making organisations (ASBL/VZW in Belgium) and accredited by public authorities with the objective of carrying out missions which they are entrusted in the context of the social statute of the self employed.
The social insurance funds provide the following services:
- supplying information with regard to the social scheme for the self-employed to interested people
- provide advice and assistance with regard to the allowance of rights with regard to pension, family benefits and other allowances. The social insurance funds assist the self-employed workers who appeal to the Commission for Exemption from contribution.
- collection of social contributions
- conservation of career details
- paying out of the following allowances: pension allowances, Free Complementary Pension, social insurance in case of bankruptcy, maternity allowances for the self-employed women.
